Year 1/Day 8 – !POP QUIZ GRADEZZ!

The 3 day labor day weekend was fantasic. I got to relax and catch up on my reading for Gross. I was really struggling with how I should study for Gross. One upper classmate told me what she did. Pretty much we are assigned two reading assignments daily one from Grant’s Dissector and the other Liebgott’s Anatomical Basis of Dentistry. Basically, I read the dissector first followed by filling in the gaps with the other book. Yeah, I type my notes. I find it better this way because it helps me keep my notes organized. Also, I get to go on facebook (just kidding). So yeah, last week was nice only 2 classes gross and health care system I. Turns out, molecules, genes and cell (a.k.a biochemistry, genetic and cell biology in one) started today with a bang! Later on this week, dental anatomy and morphology starts. The motto of this week is literally to get through as quickly as I can.:

Woke up today 8 am, shower and groomed bounced from home at 8:30 AM. Got to school early so I went to the undergraduate side (West side campus) to print some stuff out and mainly to get away from the whole dental school environment. It was nice, lasted only good 22 minutes. MCG starts 9:35 am-11:25am. Today’s gross anatomy’s lecture went completely over my head. I was following the lecturer precisely 25 minutes in and then words started flying over my head and I was lost. I still kept cool and hung in there, because everyone around seemed to be absorbing stuff. The lecture ended with a terror. It was almost like an earthquake hit of scale 10! Let’s just say, it was BAD!!! Only 1 A was given out on that pop quiz. I don’t want to put the numbers out because some of my classmates (including me) wouldn’t like it. whatever! Anyway, I’m tired so I decided to call it a day and wake up early and read the assignment for tomorrow.

Today: not as productive as I wanted to be; just surviving!

Year 1/Day 7 – .Define time management.

So, it’s only been 1 week of classes and I don’t even know when i stopped to take one breathe. Classes started on August 26th. Time is like 2 fast 2 furious. It has been quite an experience! There’s a lot of material thrown at you comes with a fine print saying “handle it with care.” Time management is the key to get through it.

Orientation Week

Dear readers,

I apologize for not writing this past week. I was extremely busy with the orientation at stony. I would wake up at 7 AM and drive out to school get there by 9ish. There are number of sessional information on finanical aid, health assessment, student ID and parking and a whole bunch of other stuff. Lunch with faculty and classmates was good, informative and fun. I finally feel that Stony Brook Dental school is one BIG family. As hard it is to believe, it’s true.

Anywho, the orientation week was a ball. I was partying everynight and man I miss it!
