What’s the difference between AEGD and GPR programs?
- AEGD = Advanced Education in General Dentistry
- GPR = General Practice Residency
The key difference between the two is that GPR is a hospital-based whereas AEGD is usually school or clinic-based. I found this from a resourceful website:

Yes, today we did out first INDIRECT vision #3 MO amalgam cavity preparation. This was INSANE! I get to my station set up my pole and the head along with rubber dam. We got a mini demostration from our professor and then straight to preclinical lab. we started around 1:45 pm. It literally took me 30 minutes to figure out where I should get my finger rest for #3. Next, I place the mirror and the whole world is inverted. Boy, this was rough. I wish I could write more but I’m pretty worned out. Again, histology lecture was 8:30 am in the morning on muscle tissue. It was a fairly simple and quick lecture. Dr. Cameron does a great job in explaining everything. He’s the man. I was planning on waxing up my central incisor but stupid me forgot my morph typodont at D school. Soon enough, I will post something regarding being organized. Be sure to check it out. My plan is to also put some sample cavity prep and video demostration on some of the things we do as a first year I think people will really appreciate it. Please, if you read this drop some comment so I feel better about myself.

Today was all about being productivity! I woke up at 7 am with 5 hours of sleep, since I decided to leisure myself the previous night by watching a Hindi movie called Wednesday. It has subtitles you can watch it! HIGHLY recommend. Anyways, drove out to school 30 minute drive and keeping my mind focus that today has to be productivity. Reached class 8:30 am, Dr. Cameron about to start his histology lecture on Nervous tissues. 2 hours of histology, NICE! I left class for rest of the day to do other things such as house chores and finish unfinished school assignments. Grab subways and drove to Dental school.
Started to wax around 1:30 pm. When to see Dr. Rice, my morphology professor. She is a sweet heart! She starts off with her laugh and I’m planning on having her laugh posted on this site with her permission. It is so hilarious! Anyways, she told me that I need to add more wax on the incisal edge on the #8. Then, she goes you have no contact on the mesial side. I responded, “Yes I do!” She takes a post-it and slides it through along with her laugh. I couldn’t help but to laugh wit her. Anyways, she asked me to fix those two things and she would sign off my anterior teeth. I finished all my assignments for wax up #6, #7, and #8. Then, attempted to drill 19 MO and it was a total disaster. I’ll try to post some pictures up so you guys can get an idea. Came home around 9:30 pm very sleeply. Read a little histology and pretty much got organized. Calling it a night!
Moral = A little productivity can boost your morale and confidence!!!!!

Today was a pretty productive day with a late start. Woke up around 1:30 pm, yes really late. Drove out to school around 2:30. Leisure time until 5 pm. Then, studied a little for physiology. I started waxing around 7 up on #7 Left Maxillary Lateral Incison and called it a night around 9:30 pm. The best part of today was playing pool and ping pong with my classmate! I think, this month my goal is to keep up to date with my reading for most of my classes and stay on top of my lab assignments as well as my blog post with few pictures. I really want this blog to mean something for the other pre-dents. I need people to write their comments and what they would like to see. Good night amigos, laters.

What’s up? So, even though I said I will be posting up short blogs daily I didn’t live to my word. I have to blame Anatomy, and biochemistry for that. Yes, it had completely taken over my life. I still can’t safely say that I have fully adapted to the environment but I’m getting cozy.
1st semester over check-list–
- Anatomy – checked
- Biochemistry – Checked
- Neuroscience – just finished on 2/4/2009 = CHECCKK!!! thank God

I’m gonna try to finish #7 tomorrow so hopefully I can start practicing on #8 by monday, since I have a morph final practical next thursday! I better pass.
